Black Fathead Minnows (Pimephales promelas) also known as tuffies or blackhead minnows a variety of minnow used primarily as a feeder fish providing a healthy food source to feed other aquatic pets. We have both a small (0.5"to 1.5") minnow which is great as feeders and then a larger 1.5-2.5" minnow that is better as bait. Minnows are omnivores and mainly eat zooplankton and phytoplankton, but will eat all types of small dried and live food. Fathead minnows are fractional spawners and spawn throughout the spring and summer once the temperatures are about 65 degrees. Their high reproduction rate make them an excellent stocking choice as forge fish or bait for crappie, perch, bluegill or bass.
If we are out of a certain size of black fathead minnow be sure to see if we do have our rosie red minnows in stock as they are just a pink version of a fathead minnow.

Fish Feeding
Goldfish can eat many different types of fish flakes or pellets. We suggest goldfish smaller than 4" in size are fed flake fish food or mini pellet floating food. Goldfish larger than 4" can have either the mini pellets or larger 5mm pellets. Be careful to follow feeding instructions as overfeeding your fish can be harmful for your fish.
It is common for fish to by shy or stand offish upon arrival. It can take them some time to adapt to their new environment and learn to come up and feed.
