Fathead minnows (Pimephales promelas) both black and rosie red are the same minnow just different colors. Rosie Red Minnows are a pink version of a fathead minnows and great in ponds as they are easier to see move in the water. Minnows are primarily used as a forage fish providing a healthy food source to feed other aquatic animals.
